Cybook
While the Amazon Kindle was making waves across the Atlantic, it was the Booken Cybook which had the responsibility of blazing the eBook trail in the UK. Now in its third generation, how does the Cybook hold up now that there are other options on the UK market?

Design:
At first glance, the Cybook is probably not as attractive as some of its competitors. However, it’s definitely worth a second look as Booken has put its experience in the mobile reading market to good use. As you would expect, it’s the screen that dominates the overall design, but it’s the handy D-Pad at the bottom of the reader which deserves special recognition. It is responsible for all navigation and is incredibly easy to use, meaning that all options can be accessed through one central hub.
Display:
The Cybook come with a 6″ E-Ink screen which displays text at a resolution of 600 x 800 pixels. This isn’t quite as high as its major competitors meaning that images can appear slightly blurred. However, the slightly lower resolution doesn’t have the same impact on the text which still remains clear even in bright light. Similarly, dark conditions don’t cause any problems either as the screen isn’t back lit.
